ABOUT THE FIAT LUX CHAMBER PLAYERS
"All three players in Fiat Lux demonstrated individual virtuosity,
but far more impressive was their ensemble virtuosity. Their interpretations
of both the Shostakovich and the Beethoven were both sensitive and
powerful statements, worthy of the long standing ovation that they
received after this fine performance."
(Classical New Jersey Society Journal)
Fiat Lux Chamber Players is an ensemble of outstanding musicians whose purpose is to bring the intimate and exciting world of chamber music to a broad audience through performance on the highest level. The ensemble was founded in 2005 by distinguished musicians Holly Chatham (pianist/harpsichordist) and Patrick Wood (violinist), and has its home series in Princeton, NJ and Summit, NJ. Ms. Chatham and Mr. Wood are also active as the Chatham-Wood Duo (www.chathamwoodduo.com - click to visit ). Fiat Lux is dedicated to the fine art of playing chamber music, and to the mission of bringing the vast and wonderful collection of chamber music compositions to a wider audience. Ms. Chatham and Mr. Wood have performed with and been mentored by such distinguished artists as the Amadeus Quartet, Takacs Quartet, Kenneth Cooper, members of the Emerson String Quartet and Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and conductors Christopher Hogwood, Stanley Ritchie, Paul Hillier and Simon Standage. Fiat Lux Chamber Player's repertoire ranges from works by Bach to newly commissioned pieces, from music of Latin America to traditional classical standards. Works that are not often heard in live performance but only on recording, because of their unusual instrumental combinations, are brought to audiences by Fiat Lux Chamber Players, as the group has the flexibility within its membership to perform compositions ranging from violin and piano duo to string octet to full chamber orchestral works.
